Server Side Developers

Lately I have been seeing several of my clients look for Java Developers that have "Server-Side/Core Java" development experience. I was under the impression that meant they wanted people who have worked with Servlets and JSP. Apparently I was wrong. Can someone out there school me a little on what I should be looking for in someone that has server side development expertise? Thanks! Dominic
