how to create environment for jasper report

i am trying to create jasper report , i create jrxml file, compiled it and run it throug ant , but i want to compile it through java program ,i have codes but i don't know how to create jasper report environment to run it. I tried but i can't . Any body can help me to create environment to create jasper report for java.
