I have been creating an applet that creates sounds using mathematical equations. It has been online and running very well for almost a year. Today I just went to the web page to check it out and I noticed it now runs so slow that you almost never hear any sound and the graphical representation of the sound wave is a bit distorted. The code hasn't been changed, and it still runs very well when I run it from the files on my machine. I also noticed that the message that used to be at the bottom of the frame the applet creates, about this being an applet, has disappeared. So I suppose the way Java handles security issues has changed with the last update, now checking every byte the program sends to the soundcard, slowing it down tremendously.
So my question is: Did anyone else encounter this problem? Does anyone have a solution for it?
And in case you want to check it out, this is the address of the website I'm referring to: http://www.mathsounds.com
