Intranet/Internet application design

Hello! Currently, I work on an intranet app that is used in a call center, of which, they want to expose part of it to our customers(which could be millions of people). An example would be the ability to either call the call-center to change their address or do it online themselves.
My question: Should 2 apps be developed which would use the same objects for a specific function or create one and expose part of it to the internet?
