Loading Scrollable BIG Images in J2me

I need to display some large jpg images (300KB or even larger) in a scrollable way,

I've tried using TiledLayer, but as the image is still too big.... OutOfMemory error make my app cannot start working...

I have think of cutting the large pic into a few different smaller images...but it seems so troublesom and very difficult to combine them...

So I wonder if there are any other ways to display a scrollable giant image, or any suggestions on assembling those smaller images (and make them look like scrolling continuously)?
