3 axis data capture in Jpanel

I am trying to figure out how to receive serial 8bit data from a sensor connected to a comport. I would like for the data to show up in my GUI panel for further analysis, i.e. realtime graphing and realtime signal capture. I am using NetBeans IDE 6.7.1 and need some help with "TODO Handling Code"
