Struts architecture HELP!!

Hi Guys
I am a newbie to the struts framework and I need help. I am unable to differentiate between the model, View and controller classes distinctly. And where does the bean class fit in this equation.
The action and form classes are part of the controller, the jsp/html files are views then what is the model class. Is it the class that does the db retrievals etc?
And if so why do we have that class as a servlet session?
I'm confused please help.
