Premature?

Seems a bit premature to be calling this a victory for open source. It'll take a year or two to see whether the project has picked up momentum as an "independent" open source project before knowing whether it's benefited or not.
Let's not forget that OpenOffice started out as a closed source product (StarOffice)...
