Scaling with Terracotta

I recently had the pleasure of chatting with Alex Miller, who is a respected Java concurrency and scalability enthusiast (and fellow NFJS speaker) who works on Terracotta, an open source, Java-based clustering system. In this JavaWorld sponsored talk, Alex demystifies Terracotta, explaining the programming magic that enables enterprise customers to run 50 to 100 JVMs on a single application server instance.

Welcome to the expanded JavaWorld Community platform, which consists of JW Blogs and the Java Q&A forums. This document is a guide to using the new Java Q&A forums.

Getting started with the new forum

This is an intro to the new Java Q&A Forums.

The first thing you'll probably notice is that your current JavaWorld forum login won't work here. We apologize for that! A key part of our migration plan is to bring those logins into our new platform, but we wanted to give you back a place to talk as soon as possible, and we're not quite ready yet to move the user info from the old to the new database.

Welcome to JW Blogs!

Hello, and welcome to the first iteration of the JavaWorld blogs! Launching blogs was one of my priorities when I started editing JavaWorld a little less than a year ago, so I'm thrilled to be up and running with them today.

The goal of JW Blogs is to provide a daily mix of valuable reading from around the Java world. Some of the blogs you'll find here are syndicated and others are exclusive to JavaWorld. Notably, most of them are written by JavaWorld contributors, past or present. We also welcome blogs from JavaWorld community members -- just send us a proposal. One thing I can promise is that all of the blogs you find in the JW blogsphere will have been selected for relevance of content and the technical expertise of the author. No fluff here! (Or, perhaps, only really good fluff need apply.)
