Combobox change combobox which adds text in textArea

Hi, I have been scratching my head for a couple of hours wondering why my Japplet isnt working. The problem is, the second time I select the first combobox, the second combobox does not update its content and hangs. I am not sure where its looping to and have tried to trace it out. The code is as follows.

public class brake extends JApplet implements ActionListener {

	JComboBox state, traintype;
Container c;

	String[] sNSW = { "Select", "Titan", "HMT" };
String[] sVIC = { "Select", "Nokia", "Sony" };

TextArea display = new TextArea(10, 80);
String str;

Read more ...

Very well written. DevOps will make applications reflect user behavior more closely with application changes all the time. The dev and test tools for continuous development are just becoming mainstream. We have just launched the first performance testing solution for DevOps - blitz.io - which you will soon see integrated in the leading PaaS platforms.

Data Exchange Format between Web Front End and Web Back End

To improve development efficiency of Web Application, we need to implement the parallel development between Web Front End and Web Back End. To achieve this goal, first we should determine the data exchange format between Web Front End and Web Back End. In this article, let’s talk about some data exchange formats between them.

Common data exchange formats between Web Front End and Web Back End are as below:
XML
XML stands for EXtensible Markup Language
XML is a markup language much like HTML
XML was designed to carry data, not to display data

Read more ...

Eric, you are right, I can't live without keyboards. One can use touch screens and qwerty keyboards of smartphones more than 30 min in a stretch. They are meant for Tech savvy people and not techie. For enterprise where a person spends 9-10 hrs a day doing serious stuff still a high performance PC is preferred than accessing a app from cloud on iPhone.

In our next major release we're thinking of porting the designer to eclipse (or netbeans) and supporting Java as the processing language (and possibly other script-based languages that will run in the JVM).

Read more ...

Generating an HTML from a DTO using ModelandView from SpringFramework

Is anyone familiar with generating an HTML page from a DTO? I have a DTO, let me just call it 'ExampleDTO.java'. I am going to use ModelAndView from SpringFramework. I've already created a controller and service class that will be used in my application. I am looking for help in implementing this in a short amount of time. I am new to this. I have a deadline that is due tomorrow. I am searching for solutions now and I am hoping someone is familiar with this so that I may be pointed in the best direction possible. I know this may be simple. But time is of the essence. Thanks

QCon or Javaone ????

My company allows me to visit one international work related (I'm Java/JEE Developer/Technical Lead interested in polyglot programming) conference each year. I've visited Javapolis (devox) in the past.
For this year I'm looking for a conference which is less technology but a bit more methodology focussed... possible like Oracle Develop or QCon or Javaone What would you recommend?

JSP + slow backend constructor

Hello

I am developing a web project using java and jsp.
Everything is working, but at the backend I have a constructor with is supposed to read a dictionary file which is quite large(20 sec load time).

My question is: How can i run this constructor before the users enter my jsp page? And how to I get access to that object?

Thanks in advanced,
How to extract Context-params from web.xml into POJOs?

I have information regarding the DB connection params stored in the web.xml file. I am connecting to the DB from a POJO (used as the DAO). Is there a way to extract the context-params from the web.xml file in the POJO?

Spring Integration application architecture

Hi Paul,

Your post is informative, thanks !

I am aiming to create a notification server (a pub/sub and p2p model) and excited to use Spring Integration’s features. To make that notification server an isolated black box, I m thinking to expose its functionality thru rest based APIs.

Read more ...

Hidden Form fields-Alternatives

Hi, It's been established that Hidden form fields are insecure to use in web applications.
Now my question is what all are the alternatives do we have before if we want to avoid (eliminate) the usage of hidden form fields.

For example one have typical we application where user searches the employee and gets the tabular result with one Action column where number of option will be provided like EDIT/DELETE/VIEW.

Now in order to open edit one have to pull that record from the database and open the editable form for the user.

Read more ...

Java - ORA-00020: maximum number of processes (x) exceeded

Hello,

Today we suddenly had to deal with the below error:
"javax.servlet.ServletException: TransactionServlet.doGet: Failed checking db session: javax.servlet.ServletException: java.sql.SQLException: ORA-00020: maximum number of processes (500) exceeded"

After a short discussion with the DBA team it seems the application server where our application is running on was using about 350 of the available (500) connections! The rest of the connections was used by other apps. It seems that of those 350 database connection at about 120 had an idle time of >= 1 day.

Read more ...
