Don't worry AH: a relief column of advanced OOP infantry is on the way to rescue you from your foxhole 
Why do people get so worked up about OOP design? I've lost count of the number of discussions I've gotten into trying to defend even the most basic of OOP ideas such as iterators.
The nasty edge that creeps in just looks like Pattern Envy: a kind of inferiority complex from people who do not or can not understand the object-oriented way. I guess it's human instinct to try to attack something which you feel threatened by, destroying it before it disappears over the horizon and leaves you behind.
For what it's worth, I found the article very interesting.
