Some good points - but the dark side of containers is slightly overemphasised! There are all manner of solutions to the issues mentioned in the dark side, eg file polling for log settings jmx for inspection of application data etc etc And the same flaws, and solutions can apply to stand alone apps as they increase in complexity. I don't entirely disagree, but it does come back to 'as simple as possible and no more'.

COntainers are the reason we are talking of SOA. This helps us in fullfilling the basic idiom of SOA of being an Independent pluggable feature . if this was not true it would become a Java BEAn and we all know whatit was...
