and about the components like JTextField

In the Line examples, I just need to call drawLine() and nothing more! I have 2 questions about the Components that stores a value:
1) If I store this values into a HashMap, how do I paint the component's with the correct value???
2) Is the paint (or the correct method) method called every time that the component value is changed?
