MicroStrategy SDK 7.1 supports Java

The latest release of the MicroStrategy SDK business intelligence platform, version 7.1, features a Java-based Web API (application programming interface) that enables developers to build applications on multiple platforms. These include IBM AIX, Sun Solaris, and Windows NT, and also Web application servers such as IBM WebSphere, iPlanet, and Apache Tomcat. MicroStrategy SDK 7.1 has an XML-based architecture, and its technical capabilities can be integrated into any existing Web, Windows, or wireless solution. The SDK simplifies application development with higher-level API helper objects that require less work to create and maintain code, and with a workbench application written in Active Server Pages and JavaServer Pages.

MicroStategy can be purchased at the company Website. A free evaluation and demo are also available.

BEA Java tools help create personalized e-commerce applications

BEA Systems has posted two new sample Java tools to its Developer Center, one for BEA WebLogic Commerce Server and one for WebLogic Personalization Server. The new sample code includes commerce portlets and an analyst tool; they are designed to make Java application development for commerce and personalization simpler and quicker. The new portlets help developers build multiapplication commerce portals for business-to-business, business-to-consumer, and business-to-employee applications. The new sample analyst tool minimizes the amount of maintenance and testing time required to change the business rules of sell-side e-commerce applications. It also reduces the number of steps required to view programming changes of user profiles and business rules.

Registered users of the BEA Developer Center have free access to the new sample code.

EspressChart offers new formatting and control-range options

Quadbase has released version 3.5 of EspressChart, which has new features for creating and configuring Java-based enterprise charting solutions. New chart options include vertical box charts, overlay combination charts, double-value line charts, and drop-bar charts. Custom features allow users to replace ticker labels with their own data labels, and also display time, date, and numeric formats differently, depending on where a chart is viewed. Users can export map files as output streams and specify the control range area for most two-dimensional charts. EspressChart, written in 100% Pure Java, supports most J2EE-compliant (Java 2 Platform, Enterprise Edition) application servers; it can be used on all major operating systems.

Data Junction Integration Suite now supports JMS

The latest version of Data Junction's Integration Suite now includes support for a Java Messaging Service (JMS) streaming data adapter. Users can thus read and write messages that are sent to and received from any messaging system with a JMS provider; the adapter works in conjunction with Data Junction's existing adapters for MQSeries and MSMQ (Microsoft Message Queueing). JMS provides a single standard API that can be used to access the common features of multiple enterprise messaging systems. The Data Junction Integration Suite uses the Integration Engine that includes Java, COM, and C interfaces for integration with other programs.
