SAN MATEO (09-16-95) - Sun Microsystems Inc. will announce Sept. 26 general availability of its Distributed Objects Everywhere (DOE) object request broker on Solaris, originally slated for release in the second quarter of 1996. Based on the Common Object Request Broker Architecture standard, DOE will integrate features that include network management tools, multithreading, support for concurrent users, and a peer-to-peer messaging architecture, company officials said. In November, Sun will begin beta testing OpenStep for Solaris, which will later be integrated as the development environment for DOE, sources said. DOE's first release will support Sun's Hot Java Internet browser and development language for building World Wide Web applications.
