PointBase enhances relational database suite

October 4 — PointBase has announced version 4.4 of its Java database and synchronization products. PointBase Embedded 4.4, a Java relational database management system (RDBMS) for embedding in Java multithreaded applications, includes faster, more efficient Cluster Table organization, a new feature that controls the behavior of concurrent access to data, and user callable temporary tables. Version 4.4 of PointBase UniSync, a Java-based synchronization product, features increased speed and performance. And PointBase Micro 4.4, a Java RDBMS with a footprint of less than 45K, has also been updated.

Manning publishes JMX guide

October 4 — Ben Sullins and Mark Whipple explain the Java Management Extension specification in Manning Publication's JMX in Action. Through examples, the authors show how to create MBeans, extend JMX classes, develop JMX adapters for Jini and the TCP protocol, and combine JMX with J2EE (Java 2 Platform, Enterprise Edition) technologies.

esmertec expands JVM product line

October 4 — esmertec has introduced Jbed i-ME, a Jbed Micro Edition CLDC (Connected Limited Device Configuration) virtual machine that supports NTT DoCoMo's DoJa Profile 2.0 and the MIDP (Mobile Information Device Profile) 2.0. The company's Jbed Micro Edition Platform provides the JVM, associated libraries, APIs, and provisioning services for developing NTT DoCoMo i-mode applications.

Actional launches Web services management platform

October 4 — The Actional SOAPstation transforms loose collections of Web services into business assets. The Web services management platform provides a unified point of control for Web service provisioning, version management, business activity monitoring, and end-to-end security across a Web services network. In addition, Actional SOAPstation lets companies manage changes to the Web services network without disruption.

AdventNet brings JMX to business-level management tool

October 4 — ManageEngine Suite 5, a J2EE (Java 2 Platform, Enterprise Edition) management solution from AdventNet, is now available. This software framework allows customers using the Java Management Extensions (JMX) standard to track the business impact of application performance.

October 4 — ObjectVenture has announced that ObjectAssembler 2.0 can now plug in to the Sun ONE (Open Network Environment) Studio IDE. Object Assembler is a J2EE software development environment that automates design and simplifies the use of software design patterns.
